Verso Tauschbörse
2022 / Branding, App- and Webdesign, Print
The project "Verso" was developed as part of my final exam for my graphic design qualification. The objective was to create a corporate design for a fictional client and apply it across various media.
Books have long been essential for sharing knowledge but are often read only a few times and then left to gather dust. To address this, I created "Verso," an online book exchange platform. While not the first of its kind, Verso aims to stand out through unique features and a focus on user-friendliness. The platform uses a swipe system, similar to Tinder, to help users quickly and easily find books to exchange.
One significant challenge was managing user-generated content, which frequently conflicts with design standards. Many uploaded images lack quality due to issues like lighting and resolution. To overcome this, I designed Verso to use the ISBN to automatically generate consistent book images. Users simply scan or enter the ISBN, and the system takes care of the rest, ensuring uniformity and easing the user's task.
The name "VERSO" references the historical terms "recto" and "verso," used for the right and left pages of a codex. Additionally, it echoes the Latin phrase "vice versa," meaning "the other way around," linking to the concept of exchange. To reflect this, my web design features a split layout with a swipe system on the left and reading samples on the right.
